Friday Fun

We just had another long post typed, but somehow lost it.  It's really difficult when all the pop-ups appear on the computer in Chinese, so you don't know what button to hit.  Bummer!!!  We don't have time for much now because we're meeting Paul and Alana soon, but here goes a brief version of yesterday!!
  • Walked to Uncle Sam American School and met Alana for lunch while Paul was gone picking up their new scooter and driving it back.
  • Alana took us to yet another bank with no success in exchanging traveler's checques.
  • We took bus/metro on our own to area closer to Taipei to bigger banks -- still no luck.
  • Several banks later - long story - we FINALLY got enough cash to get us through the weekend travels!!   (This is the part of the blog we lost - craziness!!)
  • Last night went into Taipei City to area much like Times Square in NYC - lights, people, hustle-bustle, sensory overload!!!  Very fun!!  Had dinner at TGI Fridays - P/A love an occasional American experience.
  • Also bought train tickets for weekend trip - Alana had a Taiwanese teacher friend write it all out in Chinese, so we'd get the right thing!!
  • The hotel has a washer/dryer, so I did a little late-night laundry afterwards, which will come as no surprise to anyone.  LOL!!
Today we are heading into Taipei City to go to the top of Taipei 101, which until recently was the tallest building in the world.  Also will see some museums and other tourist destinations in the city.  We're excited about the day!!  Still no rain, but it is forecast.  We'll see.

Love,
-M and T-
